Objective: To observe the efficacy and safety of sequential acupuncture and moxibustion therapy in the treatment of female mammary gland hyperplasia. Method: A total of 93 cases of female mammary gland hyperplasia were randomized into 3 groups: control group(n=31), treatment group 1 and treatment group 2(n=31). The patients in control group received routine maintenance of female mammary hyperplasia without treatment intervention. On the basis of the control group, treatment group 1 was given oral Rupixiao tablets (Liaoning Good Nurse), 5 tablets, 3 times a day, orally, and menstrual cessation. On the basis of the control group, sequential acupuncture and moxibustion therapy was used, a total of 3 course, once every other day. Breast mass, breast pain, associated symptoms, and hormone levels (E2, FSH, LH) were observed before treatment, after treatment, and 1 month follow-up, then the effectiveness and safety of sequential acupuncture and moxibustion therapy were evaluated. Result: After treatment and 4 weeks after treatment, intra-group comparison: FSH and E2 of patients in treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 were significantly decreased compared with those before treatment (P<0.05), LH was significantly increased (P<0.05), and scores of breast mass, pain and accompanying symptoms were significantly decreased compared with before treatment (P<0.05). Comparison between groups: FSH in treatment group 2 was significantly lower than that in control group and treatment group 1 (P<0.05), and E2 and LH were not significantly different among the three groups (P>0.05). The scores of breast mass, pain and accompanying symptoms in treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05), and the scores of breast mass and pain in treatment group 2 were lower than those in treatment group 1 (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in hormone level, breast mass score, pain score and accompanying symptom score after treatment compared with 4 weeks after treatment (P>0.05). The total effective rate of control group, treatment group 1 and treatment group 2 was respectively 61.29%, 77.42% and 90.32%, and the total effective rate of treatment group 2 was significantly higher than that of control group and treatment group 1 (P < 0.05). During the whole course of treatment, there were no adverse reactions in the three groups. Conclusion: The sequential acupuncture and moxibustion therapy can improve hormone levels, relieve breast lumps, pain and associated symptoms of mammary gland hyperplasia. The therapy is safe with good short-term and long-term effects. |
